 A couple of months ago I discovered the Outlander series by Diana Gabaldon. And, like so many that have read before me, I have totally fallen in love Jamie Fraser (move over Edward). Seriously. Guh.

I don't have a lot of time for frivolity like this, but when inspiration strikes, I can work all night...

This "illustration" is of Jamie and his wife, Claire. It's a digital photo manipulation that uses SO many images... There is a scene from Rob Roy, the modified faces of Gabriel Aubry and Keri Russel, hair from various sources, and other bits and pieces from my own photos.

In this illustration I can almost hear Jamie saying "Does it ever stop?"  -- Fans of Outlander, you ken what I mean, aye?

Now that Wide Awake is mostly complete, I'm formatting it in InDesign so I can print it out and read it in it's entirety AWAY from the computer... Like on the sofa or in the hammock out back! Nice.

And while I was creating this file, I couldn't help myself... I had to add a little design and a few illustrations. Of course, that's going to slow the process down, but this is my favorite story and reading along while creating images is going to be fun for me.

The image was created with three different photos of Rob, and the bed is kinda how I pictured it...

 The ladies of Wide Awake Rehab are hosting a Murder & Mystery one-shot contest HERE. 

As a member of this forum I was drafted to create some promo banners. 

The chess board image was found pretty much as is. (Aw... the Queen was murdered.) I just enhanced the image and added text. The other banners with Rob and Kristen were manip'd by me. Rob was easy, but the image with Kristen licking the knife was work. Everything... her face, her hair, her hand, the knife and the blood were all separate images.

 The designing bug bit again. It's been awhile... since I had the time or the desire.

These were inspired by The Blessing and the Curse, a fan fiction by The Black Arrow. This story is so rich... I have so many images in my head... These illustrate a passage from Chapter 13, "The Password."  

I tried to keep it simple... but there were so many images that spoke to the story. Here my favorites. For now, at least. I'm still tweaking... (OCD much?)

 So, the other day  - while cyber-stalking Rob (heh) - I discover that the usual sites are all excited about 3 new New Moon posters. Two of them are beautiful, but the one of Edward and Bella is... awful. I mean, like a badly photo-shopped fan-made poster. 

Everyone seems to think it's "official" and only a FEW are wondering why it looks so awkward. This shocks me. I know I'm an artist and all, but still... I can't believe all the praise it was getting, when honestly, it's CRAP compared to the posters of Bella with Jacob. (That is SO not fair.)

After staring at the offending poster for awhile, I think I figured out what was wonky... So I started tweaking it. (I really had OTHER things to do, but I'm so OCD sometimes.)

Anyway... here is the "official" poster  and my "corrected" version. I'm REALLY curious to see if anyone else had a problem with it, and if they can tell what I did...

There were 2 major things that I noticed looked "off" (to me anyway)... First, yeah, Rob's shoulders can be a little narrow when he hunches (which he tends to do), but something about this angle looks wrong... may-be it's the lens they used, but his shoulders need to be wider than that. There is something off about his arm too. An arm is about as long from wrist to elbow as from elbow to armpit. In this poster, his forearm is much longer than his upper arm. Wonky.

The other thing I noticed was that Kristen is too tall. She comes up to Rob's nose in 5" heels, so what's she doing here? Standing on a rock? Having their hips on the same level looked wrong to me too.

So... I moved Bella down, widened Edward's shoulder, and rotated and lengthened his upper arm. I also adjusted the color a bit. The lips, for one, were a little too saturated. Dark is one thing, but lipstick red... Not on my Edward.

Seriously, someone at Summit needs to be fired for approving this.
